Looking forward to 2013......very excited about all the projects I'm involved in, but especially the Open Sesame Project where we are producing a new piece of work for under 5's and their families. Also looking forward to developing the website for the Creative Cafes project with Mart Gordon - I think I'm about to learn a lot about Wordpress!!

More details are on the Wowpod project website here. Photo by Rod Varley. The Open Sesame Project is recruiting six trainee artists to work with nursery settings in West Sussex, East Sussex and Surrey. Please download the brief if you are interested!
Open Sesame is a project to develop creative practice in early years settings and has just been awarded funding from Arts Council England for a project that will work with fifteen nurseries across Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex, provide training opportunities for six early career artists and develop a new creative event for under fives and their families. This project is built on a number of previous projects and hopes to break new ground creatively and
Been working with my first cohort of Bronze Arts Award-ers who have also been dedicated volunteers with The Pantry Project and in the process got to see an exhibition of the Saatchi Collection at Ipswich Art School, well worth a visit, and thanks to the gallery for letting us use their well-resourced education room.
![]() First session yesterday of a Dragon Drama project at Strawberry Hill House - a gothic mansion that was the home of Horace Walpole. We're working on a spooky tale with a group of young people that will be a mixture of drama and mini-installations. Exciting!! Just found a link on the Cultural Learning Alliance website to a great project I set up a few years ago with Bognor Regis Community College - http://www.culturallearningalliance.org.uk/off-the-wall.aspx
This event for 0-2year olds and their parents/carers took place at the Brighton Dome on Saturday and was really well received. I was one of a group of artists designing and leading the event which was a series of sensory spaces based on the four elements. We have had lots of interest and great comments - can't wait to do some more.
Very pleased to share a link to the Early Years Creativity Toolkit which is a practical guide for early years practitioners - like a creative recipe book that you can flick through and follow easily. There is also insight into how to support creativity in early years settings drawn from the evaluation of a three-year Change School project in Hastings and St Leonard's in East Sussex and a collaborative early years project that I initiated in West Sussex called Open Sesame. Direct link to the book here.
