Arts Award and apprenticeships

Picture
I am a qualified a Bronze, Silver and Gold Arts Award Advisor. Click for more information about Arts Award. Young people from the Pantry Project worked with me to gain their Bronze Arts Awards in 2012, and in 2013 I worked with a group of young artists on Gold Arts Award as part of the Open Sesame project. At the Towner Gallery I expanded the opportunities for young people to complete their Arts Awards and successfully applied to become an Arts Award Good Practice Centre for 2015-16.

Conference and training events

I believe that effective learning takes place through direct experience, sharing practice and reflection, and offering these opportunities inspires people to learn new skills and make new connections. I have planned and delivered a range of training events, conferences and seminars to promote practice and share learning from creative projects, and networking events for artists, schools and creative industries. For example:
  • a series of Professional Development Days for Earlyarts, the national organisation for people working creatively with under fives - the image to the left shows one of these sessions at Brighton Museum.
  • a Level 4 course set up with University of Brighton to accredit the learning of the nursery practitioners who participated in the Open Sesame project
  • Creative Cafe events where young people meet, network with and present their work to people working professionally in the creative and cultural industries
  • conference and seminar events including the 'Creative Collaboration' event at the HG Wells Centre in Woking in June 2013 that shared the learning from the Open Sesame Project
